MONOGRAPHS. Alexander, John A. Potidaea, Its History and Remains. Athens, GA, 1963. 8vo (16x24cm), hardbound dark green linen, gilt spine letters; 146 pages, 23 plates (including 2 plates of coins), 2 maps. Daehn 3230. Near Fine
A note from BCD: A very readable book on the history of a city that was the apple of contention between Athens and the Spartan alliance. Chapter V deals with its early coinage whereas pp. 92-94 attempt to place the bronze coinage within the city’s historical background. Plates XXII and XXIII provide coin photographs taken from the Olynthus excavations books by Robinson and Clement.
