MONOGRAPHS. Bernhard, Oscar. Griechische und römische Münzbilder in ihren Beziehungen zur Geschichte der Medizin. Zurich 1926. 8vo (16x23.5cm), terracotta linen with gilt spine and cover letters; 93 pages 10 plates. Bookplate. Spine faded, slight foxing to end pages. Good. CS 16345
A note from BCD: The ideal companion for a doctor who collects Greek and Roman coins. Some of the Asklepios attributes may be far-fetched for a conservative mind but on the other hand a fertile imagination could add even more subjects that are somehow connected to medicine. The ten attractive plates illustrate coins mostly from various European museums and collections, but there are quite a number from the author’s own collection as well.
