MONOGRAPHS. [British Museum] Combe, Taylor. Veterum Populorum et Regum Numi qui in Museo Britannico Adservantur. London 1814. 4to (24x27.5cm), full tan leather with dark brown spine letters and raised bands; 246 + 10 pages, 15 plates. Slight stains to binding, title mended, some plates foxed. Overall, Good to Very Good. Lipsius p. 28, Daehn 1776a
A note from BCD: If the British could produce such a catalogue in 1814 then quite rightly they were hailed as the forerunners of ancient numismatic science for the rest of that century and more. One added bonus for the reader is that he can see which coins were already part of the BM holdings at this early date.
