MONOGRAPHS. de Schachmann, Baron. Catalogue raisonné d’une Collection des Médailles. Leipzig 1774. 4to (28x29cm), quarter tan leather with brown spine letters, brown cloth boards; 162 + 1 pages, engravings in text. Deckle edges. Fine. Lipsius p. 350
A note from BCD: Although some of the attributions belong to the sphere of fantasy, at least the cataloguer is honest about three pieces that he considers suspect. All this does not detract from the charm of this two-and-a-half century old collection that includes both Greek and Roman coins. The numerous etchings interspersed in the text are a pleasure to contemplate.
