Evans, Sir Arthur J. The “Horsemen” of Tarentum. A Contribution Towards the Numismatic History of Greater Greece. [Ex: Numismatic Chronicle, Third Series, Vol. IX.] London; Bernard Quaritch, 1889. 8vo., pp. x, 242; 11 superb autotype plates. Original red gilt-embossed publisher’s cloth, coloured endpapers. Scuffed at the extremities, the edges bumped, a few annotations to the text, the contents otherwise clean. Very good overall and extremely scarce.
Clain-Stefanelli 2136. Daehn 2843, “A major study of the Tarentine coinage.” Kroh p. 17, “This large and widely-quoted work… is blessed with some very deep research and a readable text on the history that all students and collectors of this series should digest. Unfortunately, it has never been reprinted [and] seldom appears for sale.”
