Hill, G. F. Coins of Ancient Sicily. London; Archibald Constable & Co., 1903. Crown 8vo., pp. superb autotype plate of Syracuse medallions as frontispiece, title page printed in red and black, xv, (1), 256, map, 16 fine collotype plates each with captioned tissue guard. Original dark blue publisher’s cloth, ruled in blind, the spine lettered in gilt. A little worn at extremities, particularly the top of the spine, the binding rather fragile but still intact and internally clean. A very good copy of this charming publication. Seldom offered and scarce thus.
Described in a 1932 Spink catalogue as “a very beautiful book dealing with coins which are admitted to be the flower of the numismatic art.” Clain-Stefanelli 2185, “Interesting and informative.” Daehn 2934. Kroh p. 21.
