Cunobelinus Plastic. No Stalk Type with Pellet above and Below Horse. c.AD8-41. Gold stater. 16-18mm. 5.39g. Ear of barley, no central stalk, CA to left, MV to right./ Well muscled horse right, pellet and branch above, pellet and CVNO below, beaded border. ABC−, VA−, BMC 1818-23, DK 562, S 286. Good VF, nicely toned rose gold, well centred barley, bold horse, complete  inscription. Found Bletsoe, Beds., 2014. EXCESSIVELY RARE die pair, only one other known.                Dr
John Sills says: “The horse is now galloping rather than prancing and has a fine pellet mane on early dies” (Divided Kingdoms, p.628). Unpublished by ABC and Van Arsdell, this is a very pretty example of a pretty scarce stater which, like so many of our coins, is securely provenanced.
