English Coins from the Collection of the Late Dr John Hulett (Part IV)

BRITISH COINS, Edward IV (First reign, 1461-1470), Heavy coinage, Groat, class II, mm. rose, crescent on breast, lis (?) by neck, 3.08g/6h (B & W II; N 1531; S 1972). Slightly small of flan, split, otherwise nearly very fine, the variety unpublished in the main references £150-200

The marks by the neck seem to be small lis, punched into the die at a slight angle. Although noted on the vendor’s ticket, he makes no comment on their apparent rarity
