Grand Master Antoine de Paule, 1623-1636.
Antoine de Paule was only 71 (sic!) when he was elected and reigned 13 years until he died at 85. One of the major events of his reign was the beginning of the so-called Floriana Lines (named after the Papal military engineer who designed them, Pietro Floriani) at the neck of Sciberras and the country palace of Sant’Antonio, now the official residence of the president of Malta. His coinage was basically the same as what had been produced earlier.
