Spread Tail. c.58-45 BC. Silver stater. 17mm. 5.67g. Durotrigan wreath pattern with upward-facing leaves./ Disjointed horse left, with three diverging lines for tail, large pellets and one small pellet above, large pellet below, ‘coffee bean’ behind, exergual line with zigzag decoration. ABC 2160, VA 1238, BMC 2662, S−. Good VF, neat round flan, bold pellets. An early, heavyweight stater of good silver. Ex Christine Willans collection. Ex Brighstone hoard, Isle of Wight, 2005.
This well documented stater was bought directly from the main finder of the famous Brighstone hoard.
