Estimate: 2'000 USD   |   Starting price: 1'200 USD Price realized: 1'440 USD
Only One Known
Banco Rio Cuarto. 5 Pesos, 1874. P-S1826p , COR-130p. Proofs. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
2 Uniface Proofs in lot. This rare note is unusual because the central vignette is of a Canadian hunter in a canoe; clearly not germane to Argentina. While the stag in the upper right corner was from the archive, it is at least germane to Argentina. Red stags, similar to the one pictured, are located in Patagonia with organized hunting expeditions conducted locally. Very few of these were issued. Only two issued examples have been seen and they are in museums. No other proof or specimen note was seen by the author. Face Proof CU63 with Small Tear noted on the reverse of the holder. Back Proof CU63 with Paper Pull noted on reverse.
PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
From the Robert J. Bauman Collection.
