Session C, Lot 40027

Estimate: 350 USD   |   Starting price: 180 USD Price realized: 432 USD

COLOMBIA. 1779-SF Escudo. Popayán mint. Carlos III (1759-1788). Restrepo 54.14. AU-55 (PCGS).

Frosty and lustrous light yellow gold with some hints of rose and olive. A very attractive piece, well centered on the obverse, aligned to 6:00 on the reverse. Aside from a natural striation that subtly crosses the portrait at the nose, no flaws are seen. A nice coin.
From Hans M.F. Schulman's sale of February 1973, lot 237.
