Legal Tender Notes
High Gem $10 "Jackass" Note

Friedberg 102 (W-1282). 1880 $10 Legal Tender Note. PCGS Currency Gem New 66 PPQ.
In recent years Fr.102 has become a go-to note for collectors wishing to obtain a high grade example of this popular $10 Legal Tender type. Just around 140 examples of this large brown seal Bruce-Wyman signed $10 are currently in the census. The presently offered note has ample margins and is well embossed. Dark inks accentuate the detailed design elements of this popular type. Just a single example has been graded finer by PCGS.

Back Styles on Series of 1880 $10 Legal Tender Notes

Series of 1880 $10 Legal Tender Notes are known with three back styles. Style 1 displays the series date outside of the main back design in the left and right margins. Style 2 (as here) removes the series date from the margins and adds one inside the open field on the left side of the back design. Style 3 adds "Printed at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing" inside the field at left and removes the imprint of the Columbian Bank Note Company.

PCGS Population: 2, 1 finer.
