Gem New 1899 $2 Silver Certificate

Friedberg 251 (W-371). 1899 $2 Silver Certificate. PCGS Currency Gem New 66 PPQ.
This exceptionally well margined and attractive note features allegorical figures Mechanics and Agriculture flanking the portrait of Washington at center. The intricate design of this $2 type is executed in striking inks. The overprint is deep blue in color and nicely embossed as seen from the back of the note. This Vernon-Treat signed note is wholly original and borders on superb quality. It should be a highlight in any collection it enters. Another nice example of an affordable Gem quality note from the Joel R. Anderson Collection. Notable pedigrees add a lot to the appeal of any note.

PCGS Population: 15, 4 finer.
From Lyn Knight's sale of June 2011, lot 1091.
