One of the rarest inscribed quarter staters in the British series, named after the specimen in the collection of Sir John Evans, which was found near Margate, Kent, 1853 (Num. Chron. 16, p.80, no.13). The above Margate Plain type is even scarcer. Only one other is known and that’s the one found at Wingham, Kent, 2004, CCI 04.2306, sold by us in 2005 and published in Divided Kingdoms, p.83.
