ΣV – RAK – O – Σ – Ι – ΟΝ Pearl-diademed head of Arethusa r., wearing necklace; around, four dolphins swimming clockwise. SNG ANS 63 (these dies). Boehringer 197 (V88/R136).
A superb portrait, work of a talented master-engraver, perfectly centred on a large flan with
an enchanting old cabinet tone. Unobtrusive die-breaks on reverse,
otherwise extremely fine
