Ptolemy III Euergetes, 246 – 222. In the name of Berenice II. 2 ½ drachms, Alexandria after 241, AV 10.69 g. Diademed and veiled bust of Berenice II r. Rev. ΒΕΡΕΝΙΚΗΣ – ΒΑΣΙΛΙΣΣHΣ Cornucopiae filled with fruit and bound with fillets; on either side, star. Svoronos 979. BMC 3. Boston 2279. McClean 9790 (this obverse die).
Very rare and in exceptional condition for the issue, among the finest specimens known.
Two unobtrusive marks on obverse, otherwise extremely fine
