This was the first private bank in Entre Rios. Governor Urquiza wanted to make Entre Rios an economic center of the country. To do this, he promoted the establishment of private banks. Sometimes, he also invested in them to broaden his own personal financial position. The Benites family were wealthy merchants and supporters of Urquiza. In 1867, the first set of banknotes was ordered. They were printed by San Martin in Buenos Aires. These are the first three notes of this scarce series.
