Very Fine 20
Australia Commonwealth of Australia 5 Pounds ND (1918) Pick 5c PMG Very Fine 20. A rare, beautiful, and interesting banknote, grandly sized and graced with an intricate and pleasing engraving. Seldom, if ever offered, and missing from many collections of early Australia. Printed locally in Australia, this type has a variety of prefix and suffix combinations, but do not mistake that for high print totals. Rather, prefix/suffix varieties and color schemes were anti-counterfeiting measures taken in response to forgeries made of the previous issues. This example is free of distractions and issues that often plague banknotes of this age and size. Of note, this note features the second signature combination, Cerutty and Collins.
