Treelike Trophy. Sills class 1, Tree. c.45-40 BC. Gold quarter stater. 11-13mm. 1.32g. Almost plain obverse, slight central banding./ Tree in centre with six branches and three roots, decorated bar each side, three ringed-pellets (middle one beaded) above; bent line (lightning flash?) and two small ringed-pellets below. ABC 189, VA−, BMC−, DK 56, S−, Sylloge of Coins of the British Isles 1, no.29. CCI 06.0480 (this coin). Near EF, toned gold, well ornamented. Ex Tony Warner collection, ex Chris Hamlyn collection. VERY RARE

This seems to be the earliest of the Cantian gold quarter staters, clearly derived from the Uniface Tree quarter of the Morini (ABC 43), but more decorative than its Gallo-Belgic prototype and much scarcer.
