The World Money Fair Award
On 31 January 2026, the World Money Fair Award was presented for the first time. It has a different concept to, for example, the Coin of the Year Award (COTY). The winners are not chosen by a jury of experts, but by collectors – both online and on site.
The winners of the World Money Fair Awards
There are currently two categories: gold and silver coins. In the gold coin category, the South African Mint won with ‘2025 Big 5 Series III: Lion’. Second place went to CIT for ‘60 Years of Self-Government’, and third place to ‘Year of the Horse 2026’ from the Lithuanian Mint.
In the silver coin category, ‘Repubblica Italiana’ from CIT was the most popular. Second prize went to ‘Paper Boat’ from Power Coin. Third prize went to Switzerland for ‘Pioneers of Swiss Aviation’.
Joy for winners and collectors
The World Money Fair Award is linked to the active efforts of the World Money Fair to present news from the world of coins to an interested audience via social media throughout the year. Every month, the coin of the month is chosen. From the 12 monthly winners, collectors select the three most beautiful gold and silver coins during the World Money Fair.
Those who vote are rewarded, as nine precious coins are raffled off among the voters.
There was great joy among all the winners. The victorious mints were also delighted. They know that winning a prestigious award has an impact on the sale of a coin.
