Heritage establishes a philately department
It is actually quite surprising that Heritage is only now opening a ‘Philately’ department. There may be many reasons for this; for example, the fact that it already had a philatelic department – three years before Heritage adopted the name ‘Heritage’: in 1980, Steve Ivy brought Charles Shreve to Dallas, where together they founded Steve Ivy Philatelic Auctions. This company applied modern marketing methods to rare stamps, similar to how Steve Ivy had previously done with coins.
In 1988, Tracy Carey joined the team. She was responsible for the organisational side of the philatelic auctions. In 1991, Heritage sold its philatelic division to Greg Manning Auctions, Inc.
Now philately is back – along with Charles Shreve and Tracy Carey, who have since become very well-known figures in the philatelic world. The first auction is already planned for spring 2027. Heritage accepts consignments at any time.
